DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) helps to develop skills to increase the ability to practice mindfulness and be present in the moment, to identify and regulate emotions, to increase interpersonal effectiveness and interact with others effectively, and to tolerate crisis through distress tolerance. This assists in decreasing misery and suffering, and leads to having a life worth living. DBT therapy is offered in 6 month increments, with a requirement of a 6 month commitment for weekly DBT skills training groups and weekly individual therapy.
DBT individual and family therapy and DBT group skills training for adults and adolescents are now available in San Diego County with Sue Boyd, LCSW and Personal Evolution Psychotherapy. DBT Skills Training Groups are in adherence to Dr. Marsha Linehan's Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Adolescent Multi-family DBT individual and group therapy is available also. If you are a teenager or have a teenager who has severe mood swings or depression, has difficulty regulating emotions, has low impulse control or an eating disorder, has a difficult time interacting with others, and/or has self-injurious or self-harm behaviors, please contact Sue Boyd, LCSW for information re: beginning individual and group DBT therapy. DBT is for both adults and adolescents.
